You expressed your thoughts beautifully. There is real damage to society when people who aren't poor claim "poverty". Because people who have their basic needs met (shelter, food, medical insurance), are blind to those of us who are struggling without the "basics". They see all income as disposable income because they have never been homeless hungry, or bankrupted by medical bills.
