Yes, mansplaining is a huge problem. I once had a job where I had to teach new hires to work the computer registers (this was back in 1980). The women were worried about making a mistake, and would ask a lot of questions before proceeding to ring up a sale. The men would hush me when I would caution that they were about to punch the wrong key, then get angry at me once the mistake was made. I couldn't even make a suggestion to the men without getting an irritated, "Stop correcting me, I KNOW what I'm doing" response. BTW, kudos to your wife for saying "as if". We all need a sense of humor around this.
