🌬Mitch posed a question to me in a comment, that got me to thinking and led to this article. Mitch asked me what I thought of this idea from a young man on TicTok:

The young guy said something like what if all of us gave $1 to the same person. Just one dollar. All we would need to do is give one dollar when ever we could to one person we choose. We don’t need the system to be wealthy. We just need each other to make it happen. We can all be wealthy if we chose. Let’s say that multimillionaire were to take only what he needed and spent the rest on any charity he could find. Build a school. Housing. A hospital.A community farm. A co-operative.

Well, Mitch, I like the idea of people supporting one another. What I find problematic is leaving it up to the individual to only take what he needed and to actually choose a charity that would do the most good for the most people.

We would all probably have a different idea of what we needed. What are our basic needs? Food, shelter, clean water and clean air, love, a balance of work and rest. That’s about what’s needed for survival, but it is not selfish to want more out of life. Travel, music, art, reading, writing and entertainment come to mind.

And as for choosing a charity, many people are unaware of what is really happening in the world outside…
