Things They Told Me
That never came true
“Don’t sit on the radiator. You’ll get piles.” Okay, so I didn’t know what “piles” were, but the next-door neighbor’s Grandma told me that they were pretty painful.
Well, it was bitter cold in my house growing up, and there was no way I was going to let “piles” keep me away from the blessed warmth of placing a blanket on the radiator and making a seat.
Never got piles (hemorrhoids, FYI), and I have fond memories of gazing out the window from my warm seat.
“Don’t change jobs a lot, it won’t look good on your resume.” “Hard work and giving 100% will get you far.” “Don’t complain to your boss.”
Hahahahahahahahaha!
“Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has no heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains.”
I’ll be 64 this year, and I’m more liberal than ever. It’s not about supporting political parties, it’s about not losing the will to see through the bullshit.
Thank you, Noam Chomsky, for leading the way. At 94 you still have a heart filled with compassion, and are providing hope to young people for a possible future.
