One of my nieces was a teacher at an elementary school in Houston, TX during the Obama administration. Obama was nicknamed "Deporter in Chief", as his administration really went after those immigrants who crossed the border illegally. Daily, she had kids in her classes crying, as Mom or Dad or both were deported, and they were left with relatives. This was under a Democrat. Lots of the tough immigration laws were passed under Clinton (another Democrat). Bush didn't deport as much as Clinton. And Trump deported hundreds of thousands less than Obama. I see that you cited NPR. I once trusted PBS (Public Broadcasting System) and NPR (National Public Radio), but I have clearly seen them cave to the status quo opinions. Supposedly they are publicly supported, but tons of money also comes from corporations. I search FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) documents, military journal and war college documents, and transcripts of hearings in the House and Senate for my information. Trump talks a lot about deportation because that appeals to his base (about 35% of the people who vote for him are solid MAGA). The Dems and Republicans are on the same page on these issues. I am NOT a fan of Donald Trump and I am not a Republican (or a Democrat for that matter). I am a concerned citizen who wants to see justice for all (including immigrants). I despise the term "illegal" to describe an immigrant. These people are fleeing horrible conditions in their home countries. Situations that were set in place by exploitation of their homelands by the US Government.
