Setting: Restaurant, located directly behind narrator’s house.

Characters: Narrator (Aunty Jean),woman in her 50’s, waitress at restaurant; Nephew of Aunty Jean, man in his 20’s, waiter at restaurant; Olivia (narrator’s chihuahua); various restaurant patrons.

Scene: Aunty Jean is waiting on the patrons seated at the restaurant’s outdoor tables. The temperature is in the 90’s with high humidity. Nephew arrives on his bicycle, to take over her shift. He’s not in top form, but rather irritable and dripping with sweat.

Aunty (to nephew): Hey, Honey! (my affectionate nickname for him) How are you?

Nephew: Hot! I really don’t want to work today.

Aunty: (handing nephew the keys to her house) Why don’t you go lie down in my bedroom? The a/c is on, you can cool down a little before your shift starts. Olivia will be in there to greet you!

Nephew: (takes keys) Thanks, that sounds great!

Aunty Jean turns around to see the shocked looks on the faces of the restaurant patrons; realizes that they have no context for the conversation they just overheard.

Aunty: (sputtering) That was my nephew! Olivia is my dog! I’m not a tiger!

Nephew: (laughing, as he walks away) Aunty Jean, I think you mean a “cougar”.
