I'm with you on this, Natalie. I know many people (family included) who had children due to sperm/egg donation. I don't discuss my views with them, as it's none of my business. My concerns have always been with the possibility of half-brothers and half-sisters marrying, and having children with chromosomal abnormalities. A close relative of mine, a lesbian, researched sperm donation centers. She and her wife are well off financially, and they chose a high-end clinic that promised that each sperm donor would only be allowed a limited number of donations. She has since found out that her child's donor gave thousands of donations to that clinic. I love her son, and of course, this is not discussed in front of him. I just wonder about just how many children this guy has out there. In a small town, one might not think about this, but in a big city where people may stay in the same neighborhood that they grew up in, how many half-brothers and half-sisters are walking around? I am not coming out as against donation, but I have never been comfortable with it. Maybe I just worry too much.
