I understand that many parents feel safer when their children have cell phones. So, bring them to school, but require them to be stored during class time, unless being used for a medical reason. I have most my experience in low-income schools, and kids really don't need to feel any more unequal because they don't have the latest device. Even the low-income schools in my area provide tablets for classroom use, so technology is not being ignored.
