I live in an 112-year old 3-decker house (it was converted into condos, and I own the 2nd floor) with no yard. My condo has 2 small bedrooms and 1 bathroom. My tax assessment just came in at $474,000. Just for my 2nd floor unit! I feel for my nieces and nephews. They can barely afford rent and are still living with roommates well into their 30's.
