I Know What I Would Do . . .

Wasting Public Funding on Endless Studies

People who enter a conversation with the statement, “I know what I would do if that were me”, seem to think they somehow know how to solve all sorts of problems, if only all the stupid people would actually listen and educate themselves.

When these people with their grand opinions (who are desperately trying to sound knowledgeable) chime in, prepare yourself to hear a solution from a person who has never faced the situation being discussed.

You can study a situation, you can observe a situation, you can throw money and experts at a situation, but unless you actually deeply listen to the person suffering under the situation, your grand opinions and solutions are a waste of time.

I have been thinking about this a lot lately, as I see the proposed spending plans for the Federal dollars that cities and states received as part of the Covid recovery plan.

Where I live, a decent portion of that money is going towards creating committees to fund studies about how to address homelessness (instead of actually providing enough housing), and to the creation of a new government…
