I join in with these "deviants". I don't rake the leaves in the fall, but I leave them for the insects and to nourish the soil. My sister's neighbors give her grief for not having a lawn service; they say her "lawn" degrades the appearance of the neighborhood. Their yards are full of "Keep off, chemicals applied" signs. Alas.
