I can relate. My ex and I once had two people come up behind us with a gun, and threaten us. The ex ran away, but I turned around and said to the person holding the gun, "You really don't want to use that, do you?" while making eye contact. The two guys decided to walk away. I wasn't trying to be brave, that was just my automatic reaction.
