I believe the system is irretrievably broken. Democrats "talk" a "kinder" game, but are just as complicit as Republicans when it comes to supporting the status quo. I'll write more on that later. As for books, I like David Graeber's ideas, but I find his writing too difficult. I would much rather watch the videos. I would suggest a book such as Gabor Maté's The Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness, and Healing in a Toxic Culture.
