For me, the best way to learn a language is to immerse yourself in it. Surround yourself by the Spanish speakers, for instance, and allow them to teach you. Force yourself to try to figure the language out, without depending on a translator. One thing that I also do is to stick post-it notes all around the house. Door, window, refrigerator, pillow, candle, paper, pen -- all labeled with sticky notes in the language you are trying to learn.
