When it’s a struggle just to get through the day

I’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately. The world is just too much right now. I’ve always been an anxious person, and there have been several hospitalizations for severe depression, so I am hyper-aware of the signs of a break-down.

I have a great psychiatrist, and I keep her informed of my mood. She helps me immensely, but I have to put into daily practice all the behavioral therapy and mindfulness coping strategies that I have learned over the years if I don’t want to fall down the rabbit hole.

Empaths, highly sensitive people — you understand where I am coming from. A recent story from Teresa Roberts prompted my writing today.

Here are some mindfulness practices that I employ, especially when I am so overwhelmed that I feel I won’t make it through the day without a mental break-down:
