Start learning to think for yourself

Why do so few people want to engage in critical thinking? Because it’s hard? Because it’s time consuming? Because it’s scary and depressing? Because it’s easier to tune things out rather than face them?
Or is it that we have no confidence in ourselves? We want to be on the right side of the right people. We want to “fit in.” We don’t want to chance being wrong.
The mainstream media feeds us propaganda with a skill so practiced and honed to perfection, that we come to believe that the status-quo opinions are our own. Most people don’t know that they are being manipulated.
Becoming aware is a never-ending process. It’s not a done thing. None of us is all-knowing; all of us get fooled. But it’s that awareness of “I’ve been duped!” that opens us up to the path of truth.
It is actually very freeing to admit that you’ve been wrong in the past. No more need for all that defensiveness when someone questions your opinion. Actually, you’ll stop having so many opinions, because you’ll come to realize that there are…
