Why are you running for office?

Dear Candidate:

Why do you want to hold office? I have listened to you speak, I have read your campaign literature. I know what you say you stand for. I want to know what your plans are once you get elected. How will you stand up to big Pharma, big Ag, and big oil?

You see, all candidates make promises, yet very few make good on those promises. Oh, it’s the system, you say. Those “on the other side of the aisle” want to block my agenda.

Really?! You didn’t know that the “other” side was opposed to your views when you were making those campaign promises to the people? You didn’t know that no one really supported you, that you were just the lesser of two evils?

When you took campaign funds from your political machine, you became their puppet. You and your opponent from the other political party’s machine are now controlled by the same master puppeteer — the corporation.

But. . .[you stammer] . . . it takes a lot of money to run for office . Ah, yes, and you grabbed up that easy money from corporate donors when you saw that the grass roots candidate was generating incredible donations in small dollars and cents from the people who actually believed his message.
