Concise, yet well-explained description of emotionally immature parents and the effects on children. Both of my parents were emotionally immature, and for years I distanced myself from them. I eventually learned to have compassion for them, as I came to understand issues like emotional immaturity. I have just one sibling, and she and I are opposites: I am an internalizer and she is an externalizer. I used to despise her, until I developed the understanding that we were both coping with the results of our parenting, just in different ways. I now have compassion, although I set firm boundaries with my family members.
