Apps are simply the latest form of addiction. Many years ago, people warned of wasting time reading comic books, or playing cards, or binge-watching TV. I know that I don't want my government controlling what I can and cannot do with my free time. I deactivated my Facebook account, and I have never bothered with Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, or other apps. I find that when I want to break a "bad" habit, I think about how I am harming myself by continuing the habit. Try removing the apps from your phone; that way if you want to use them, you have to download them from "the cloud" again, and sign in again.
